Would you like to participate in some citizen science? Drop by Huia Lodge Discovery Hub from the 2 April – 19 April to collect a Cornwall Park bird survey and count our birdlife for one hour. Return your survey by 26 April to Huia Lodge and enter the draw to win a bird prize pack. This activity is suitable for all ages, though younger children may need assistance from adults.

Better understand our ecosystem at Huia Lodge with our latest exhibition. We are highlighting the vital role pollinators play in sustaining the park’s biodiversity. It’s a chance to see the "invisible" work that keeps our landscape thriving. Our exhibition at Huia Lodge continues until 31 May.

Guided Walk: Ecology ID

Explore the ecology of Cornwall Park and become your own nature guide with our Huia Lodge Discovery Hub Team. We'll show you how to use resources like field guides, apps, and keys to identify plants and animals so you can teach yourself about nature everywhere you go. This walk is suitable for older children interested in ecology and adults who want to better understand and connect with nature. Discover the hidden life in Cornwall Park’s stone walls via our new iNaturalist citizen science project. Learn how to contribute to the global digital biodiversity map while exploring the unique ecology of our historic stone walls. Whether you’re a seasoned iNaturalist contributor or a curious beginner, don't worry, there will be experts on hand to help you get started and identify rare species. In the process you'll gain a whole new appreciation for the unique species that live on our stone walls.

Gather your whānau and join Birds New Zealand to learn about birds on a guided walk. Cornwall Park is a favourite spot for many different species of endemic, native and introduced birds. This guided walk will introduce many of the birds that can be seen in the park, their origins and information on how to best identify them. The walk will go off-road, so it is not suitable for prams, and dogs are not permitted. Registration is required via the EventBrite website.
