dogs in cornwall park
Cornwall Park is the perfect inner-city green space for walking dogs on lead. We welcome your dogs into the park; however, they must be on a lead when on park grounds including Pūriri Drive and sports grounds. Keeping your dog on a lead in Cornwall Park keeps our farm animals, other dogs and visitors safe.
We are a private park governed by the Cornwall Park Trust and are not part of Auckland Council. This means we have different conditions of entry rules than many Tāmaki Makaurau parks. To read our conditions of entry, click here.

DID YOU KNOW
- Every dog owner is responsible to understand the NZ Dog Control Act (1996) and to understand the rules of the location they take their dogs.
- By law, if a dog is found on someone else’s property or in a public place and it is not under control, it can be seized by a dog control officer or dog ranger and returned to its owner or impounded.
- Other than working dogs, if a dog is not on a leash in public then its owner must carry a leash.
- If you are the owner of the dog, you can be fined up to $3,000 and made to pay for any damage caused by an attack – this includes attacks on livestock.
